Passport renewal in Perth

You may be aware that recently I had made representation on behalf of the Nepalese Community in WA for a member of the staff of the Embassy of Nepal to come to Perth to issue new Nepalese passports and renew expiring passports. This will save the applicants considerable costs and time and from having to travel to Canberra renew/apply for their new passport.

The Consulate of Nepal in Perth has nothing whatsoever to do with ‘The Renewal of Passport’ process. That process is totally the responsibility of the Embassy in Canberra. The process is started by you applying online, but then requires you to go to Canberra to have ‘biometric measurements’ taken. If you attend the Embassy on any work day after 2.00PM, no appointment is required; BUT you must have all of the other requirements completed. Something you may choose to consider; given the total cost of travelling to Canberra for the biometrics to be done; weigh those costs against travelling to Nepal to see your family/friends and get your passport renewed at the Department of Immigration. WARNING Please check that you have enquired about all details.

Our new Ambassador, His Excellency Kailash Raj Pokharel has advised that anyone whose passport is going to expire with 12 months should consider renewing their passport.

The Embassy currently has no plan to return to Perth to take biometric measurements here.

If you would like an appointment with the staff member, please send me an email and I will put your name on the list. Also please ensure that you have completed the required forms/photos etc and have the correct amount of cash to pay for the new passport.

I will forward further info as it comes to hand.
